After working as a secretary for a national pest control company, Bonnie wanted to move into a supervisory role—but she was told that a woman couldn’t do the job.
Believing she could serve her customers in a safer and more effective way, Bonnie decided to start NEW-TEC, a pest control company in Summerville, SC. Undeterred by criticism and jokes, she signed her first customer in June 1986.
How did she do it?
At a time when most other companies were spraying baseboards inside homes on a monthly—or sometimes quarterly—basis, Bonnie introduced a different approach. She used a targeted crack-and-crevice treatment indoors, combined with a thorough exterior perimeter application, and only treated on a quarterly basis (once every three months).
While this method was uncommon at the time, it proved to be highly effective.
Over the years, the industry has evolved, and many companies now offer some variation of the quarterly treatment. However, NEW-TEC continues to stay up to date with the latest equipment and treatment methods, all while using as little insecticide inside the structure as possible.
Now, over 25 years later, we are proud to be a second-generation, locally owned and operated company.
